Obagi Blue Radiance Peel

A quick superficial salicylic acid based facial chemical peel that exfoliates and helps improve overall complexion and provides firmer, smoother, brighter-looking skin after just one treatment. A series of 4-6 peels provides the best overall results.

The
problem

Fine lines and wrinkles, rough, uneven skin, blemishes, mild to moderate photoaging.

The
procedure

Skin will be thoroughly cleansed. Your practitioner may remove any noticeable milia and blackheads. The peel solution will be applied for a short time then removed. A second layer will be applied depending on skin tolerance. Skin will be cleansed again and products applied according to skin type. SPF50 will be applied lastly.

Most frequent questions and answers

The active ingredient in this peel is Salicylic Acid which works at decongesting, brightening and smoothing the skin. It contains 20% Salicylic Acid, 2% Glycolic Acid and 2% Lactic Acid.

You can feel heat and tingling for about 30 seconds to a minute after the acid solution is applied but this does pass and isn’t painful.

You should avoid use of the following products and procedures on the area to be treated for 5-7 days prior to the peel:
Laser Hair Removal
Waxing or hair removal creams
Electrolysis
Microdermabrasion
Avoid retinol and other topical acids or exfoliants that may be drying or irritating to the skin for 3 days prior to the peel.

For best results a peel is recommended every 2-4 weeks for a total series of 4-6 peels.

Sun exposure and sunbeds. It is extremely important to wear an SPF50 to protect skin and avoid any sun exposure for at least 2 weeks prior to and post treatment.
Excessively hot showers/baths, saunas and swimming pools for 72 hours.
Intensive cardio or strenuous exercise which causes sweating for 72 hours.
Scrubbing skin or use of any exfoliating, glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids, retinol and facial products containing fragrance including make up for 3 days after.
Waxing and/or hair removal creams must be avoided for 2 weeks prior and after treatment.
Shaving is allowed immediately before treatment and 48-72 hours after treatment as long as there is no skin irritation.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Anyone with active cold sores.
Anyone with Herpes simplex or warts in the area to be treated.
Anyone with sunburn or excessively sensitive skin in the area to be treated.
Anyone with dermatitis or inflammatory Rosacea within the peel area.
Anyone who has used Roaccutane within 6-12 months.
Anyone with a history of radiation therapy in the application area.
Anyone allergic to salicylates.
