Liposuction

Liposuction is the gold standard method to produce permanent spot reduction and contour improvement in areas affected by excess fatty deposits. Your fat cells are distributed throughout your body early in life, as determined by your genetics.

Mr Athanassopoulos has trained in advanced body contouring techniques using BodyJetTM (water assisted lipo), PAL (Power assisted lipo) and VASER lipo to gently remove fat.

The
problem

Fat is stored throughout the body but tends to accumulate in well known problem areas, the saddlebags, muffin top, love handles, double chins, back rolls, inner thighs and calves. This distribution of this fat tends to be determined by genetics. In extreme cases, it is termed lipoedema, particularly affecting the lower limbs with significant fat deposition.

The great thing about liposuction is that it spot reduces these problem areas. Once fat has been removed those fat cells can’t comeback. You will still gain weight but generally in a more uniform manner.

The
procedure

The water assisted liposuction technique (WAL) is widely thought to be the gentlest of all liposuction options, and it’s all thanks to its unique approach to fat removal. Water assisted liposuctions uses a pressure spray of tumescent fluid to help dislodge the fat from the connective tissue, rather than the force of a cannula and suction.

Thanks to the water pressure dislodging the fat instead, WAL does not cause unnecessary trauma to the area. This, combined with the use of local anaesthesia instead of general anaesthesia, allows water assisted lipo to be very gentle on the body and have a short recovery time for patients.

Power assisted liposuction is performed using a special cannula which uses tiny, rapid vibrations to break up fat cells so that they can be suctioned out of the body. We can remove more fat in a shorter period of time, and in stubborn areas which leads to enhanced results, a safer procedure, and faster recovery.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers
Liposuction is a surgical technique that improves the body’s contour by removing excess fat deposits located between the skin and muscle. Liposuction involves the use of a small tube connected to a powerful suction pump. This is inserted into the fat through small incisions in the skin, and fat is removed by suction as the cannula creates tiny tunnels through the fat.
Liposuction improves the contour of the body, but does not eliminate the pre-existing subtle “puckering” of the skin that is often referred to as “cellulite.”
Dimpling and indentations in the skin is a known risk of liposuction. However skin irregularities are unusual in the hands of a skilled surgeon.
The garment helps with swelling and contouring. It is worn for 6 weeks after surgery.
There will be small scars at the sites where the cannula is introduced. The casuals are 4mm in width and the scars are less than a centimetre. They generally heal very well.
